On January 9th, the “Off the Road” team at the University of Konstanz partnered with local art house cinema “Zebra Kino” to host a special screening of Martin Scorcese’s new film “Killers of the Flower Moon.”
Our doctoral candidates, Jannis Buschky and Melanie Frey, designed an introduction to welcome all guests and speak with the audience about the connections between the film and the project. Automobility and oil are of vital importance to the research we do at “Off the Road,” and they are central to the plot of “Killers of the Flower Moon.”
Considering the connection between this major filmic production and our research at the university, we were delighted to organize this outreach event. Jannis presented the historical background of the film and drew attention to works by Native American writers about the Osage oil boom.
You can find the recording of his introductory talk here.
